Why Prepare?

1) Minimize disease transmission in healthcare and community settings
2) Minimize disruption to critical healthcare and medical services
3) Minimize serious illness and overall deaths
4) Enhance overall disease surveillance and reporting
5) Identify new partners and resources for emergency response

What can do?
	Prepare ►Establish a Pandemic Influenza Planning Team ►Develop a Pandemic Response Plan ►Encourage staff to practice good respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene ►Encourage staff to get vaccinated for seasonal influenza annually ►Establish mechanisms to report diseases, outbreaks or clusters of illness, increased absenteeism to Public Health ¡ by phone 714-834-8180 or fax 714-834-8196 ►Get involved with local volunteer groups ►Stay informed and sign up to receive newsletters and public health alerts. Respond ►Implement Pandemic Response Plan ►Continue good respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene practices ►Report cases to public health officials ►Encourage staff and patients to stay home when sick ►Monitor information sources and health alerts Recover ►Continue to monitor health alerts for updates ►Return to “new” normal and prepare for subsequent waves ►Re-establish Operations and update Pandemic Response Plan
